Welcome to Global Connections!

 National Educator's Computing Conference
June 25-28, 2000

Presented by Susan Golder, Laura Mates, Donna Wilkins and 
Educators from MSD of Wayne, Rose Tree Media & West Des Moines school districts.  
 

Description of Project:
Global Connections is a collaborative project involving K-12 teachers and students representing four partner school districts. Partner school districts include  
The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township in Indianapolis, IN;
Rose Tree Media, PAWest Des Moines, IA and Livorno, Italy.

The partner districts seek to nurture curricular integration of technology through a global perspective which connects students and teachers to other communities and cultures in the United States and the world.

Commitment to sustained communication is central to the success of the project as teachers and students develop new skills, explore curricular links, create technology products and assess their learning.

Educational Goals:

Establish a collaborative, multi-year global perspective program involving K-12 teachers and students from four partner school districts.
Effect teacher and student application and transfer of technology skills through a common instructional tool.
Conduct professional development opportunities such as, Video-conferencing, Distance learning, email, Internet, and Webquests.
Develop model instructional projects which integrate technology into the curriculum.
Foster students' creation of meaning through learning experiences with other communities.
Develop student problem solving skills.
Promote instructional shifts from teacher-created to student-created environments.
